Hill Climb: Corkscrew – Issues specific to this course
Hill climb series Procedure
This event is part of the Hill Climb series.
Check the procedure for this series in the Procedure manual <EVENTS><Events: special events> for things that need to be addressed.
In particular, note the instructions for grading and the grades that are to be used.
ORGANISING THE EVENT
The Event Organistion worksheet template needs some adjustment for things like:
- How prizes are handed out (see below)
- The roles for the event – they are different in a few places compared to the standard road racing model
- No halls used so anything to do with halls and keys is a ‘n/a’
How it works – rego, prizes etc
Registration is on Corkscrew Rd just north of the Sixth Creek bridge. There is an open area on the western side of the road by the creek. This spot is used to reduce congestion at the start area. There is no shelter there so either use a club tent or some other form of shelter (eg, a van with the back door opened up).
As it’s a graded individual hill climb, riders just need a number and transponder (no helmet covers).
Riders start on the side on Corkscrew Rd just north of the bridge, in the open area where 2 driveways join onto Corkscrew Rd.
Send riders off normally at either 1-minute or 30-second intervals, depending on numbers.
Riders must start at their designated start time (if this isn’t done, it will mess with the timing).
If a rider is late, the Commissaire at the start should try to slot them in but the timekeeper needs to be advised of the actual time the rider started.
At the finish, numbers and transponders are collected.
Prizes are given at the finish as each grade finishes, so someone needs to be at the finish to give the prizes.
If this event is part of a series, prizes for the overall series winners are done at a later event.
Advising local residents at the start
