AusCycling Road Ride Leader Course

Club Social Rides led by an AusCycling endorsed Road Ride Leader coming in early 2026…

We would like to share the news of an upcoming change in our Club Life. As an AusCycling Club we have two membership options ..a Full Racing licence or a Social/Leisure (non-racing option). To date we have focused on “providing inclusive racing for riders of all skill & fitness levels with a calendar of regular racing in the Adelaide Hills”. However for a while now we have also been running a club social bunch ride for Women who are current full members of AHCC. These are led by Margaret Boylan, a Club Member who is an AusCycling accredited Road Ride Leader (RRL). And now we aim to expand our Social bunch ride options so that they are available to all members. We plan to have this set up in early 2026.

As a first step towards this happening, the Club has arranged with AusCycling to run an Road Ride Leader (RRL) course in November 2025. Along with Margaret we currently have a few other Club RRLs.  But we aim to have a larger & more diverse group of members accredited as RRL’s so the role of leading Club rides can be shared (it’s a volunteer role) & so we can offer a range of social ride options to suit riders of all skill & fitness levels …much like grading for our racing allows!

The course will be run on 15th November 2025 from 9am to 3pm at Echelon Cycling Studio, Hutt Street Adelaide. I encourage you to attend as an opportunity to contribute to our Club road riding culture & social life. A link to register & pay is set out below.  The Club will pay the cost for current full AHCC members (either Full Race licence members or Social /Non- Racing members) getting the RRL accreditation. Please pay for the course yourself initially & then give the receipt to the Course Presenter (Margaret) when you come along so she can arrange for the Club to reimburse you. To finalise accreditation you’ll need to have a First Aid Certificate & a “Working with Children” check too, but these can be obtained after the completion of the face-to-face theory work & assessment at the course if not already held.  Please note that the course is open to the Public as well as our members. AusCycling has discounted the cost with the requirement that course participants will need to volunteer and support rides during the TDU in 2026 & beyond. If you have any questions about the course please contact Margaret on 0427 701 658.

Margaret Boylan, on behalf of David Hammond (AHCC President)

National Volunteers Week 2025

National Volunteers Week 2025

This week, National Volunteers Week, we want to highlight the extraordinary contribution our volunteers make to our club. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to function as a club or put on our great events. When you come out to a race with us, you’ll see a hard-working group of people, putting in their time, to allow us to participate in our great sport. This includes the team in the timing tent, on the registration desk, out on the roads traffic marshalling, all our first-aiders, our photographer, the volunteer commissaires and officials and everyone behind the scenes on the committee. We sincerely thank them all!

Be sure to give them a wave, when you’re next out racing with us!

Why not join us as a volunteer? We have plenty of roles you can help with. Contact us at president@adelaidehillscc.org.au

ToF News – We are accepting individual entries as well as Teams!

Tour of the Fleurieu

Earlybird entries are still open until 31st Jan 2025 and for the first time we’re also extending entries to individuals!

The format remains the same as last year.
Day 1 kicks off with some fast-paced action in the flatlands near Finniss beginning with a short Team Time Trial and then followed by a longer flat Road Race.

Day 2 is where things get a bit more challenging with some flat racing mixed in with a few hills around Waitpinga to test your legs. The final stage will bring us to the well-known hill climb up Crows Nest Rd — a tough but rewarding finish to the day!

Find all the details at https://www.adelaidehillscc.org.au/tour-of-the-fleurieu/

**If you’re still looking for a team to race for then use the individual entry and we’ll try to match you up to a similar graded team.
