Up-coming events for August…..

Hi everyone

Check out the AHMCC events calendar for the second half 2020: https://www.adelaidehillscc.org.au/calendar-2020/

Plenty of great racing coming up!

August is action packed – put the dates in your diary:

2nd Aug is the Langhorne Creek Handicap. Noms are open, so get those ‘chase them down’ legs tuned and ready to go.

16th Aug we are hosting the next All-Clubs event – the Kenton Valley course.

23rd is the Club Championships. A double header – kermesse and hill-climb at Bradbury. Everyone is welcome but only AHMCC members get the ‘club champion’ glory. More on this to follow soon.

30th is the State TT champs (hosted by SVCC) that also incorporates the AHMCC club TT championships. Put the head down, pedal like there’s no tomorrow, and get yourself some champions bling.

COVID-19 AND RACING – UPDATE AT 22/5/2020

Hi everyone
We’ve been keeping an eye on all of the COVID-19 stuff and what it means for getting racing going again.
The AHMCC position is:
· The SA Gov Road Map for Stage 2 – due to come in to effect on 5 June – does not present sufficient grounds to re-commence racing. The ’20 person limit’ is, in the club’s view, clearly an ‘event’ limit, not a sub-set of the event (such as a graded bunch within the event).
· We also need to consider the wellbeing of our volunteers, many of whom are in a higher-risk group. We do not see it appropriate to place volunteers in a compromised position in feeling obliged to help but rather wanting to not expose themselves to infection risks where they can be avoided.
· There is a sense of community responsibility and not push racing – a non-essential service – to the front of restrictions easing.
· We should take a cautious approach and only proceed with racing where there is unequivocal direction from the Government that we can re-commence.
It may be that, once details of the Stage 2 rollout are released things might be much clearer and if this allows us to re-start racing, we will get a re-commence plan sorted.
Until then, enjoy your social riding.

COVID-19: update at 18/3/2020

Hi everyone
We have been keeping a close watch on developments surrounding COVID-19, including the update today from the Government. Here’s the latest: https://www.health.gov.au/resources/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-what-you-need-to-know
As it stands as of today, we comply with the ‘number of people’ rule:
Non-essential organised outdoor gatherings should be kept to fewer than 500 people
Non-essential organised indoor gatherings should be kept to fewer than 100 people–this does not apply to schools or public transport
What we cannot comply with is the social distancing advice of:
Social distancing includes staying at home when you are unwell and keeping a distance of 1.5 metres between you and other people whenever possible.”
As the event will require people to hand over money, collect numbers and helmet covers, gather in bunches at the start of the event and so on, we will be forcing people to breach this advice.
We cannot therefore reasonably run our events in compliance with the government policy as it now stands.
As a result, we will now not run events until such time as we can fully comply.
In addition, we need to consider our volunteers, many of whom are in an age-risk group and we should not put them in a situation where they feel compromised.
Unfortunately this means we have to reluctantly cancel the Wolfgang Harder event and future events until we are able to comply with issued Government policy.
A big disappointment but keep riding – alone or with good social distance.
